Returns Policy

14 Day Returns Policy

Our 14 Days Returns Policy is separate, and in addition to, your rights under the Australia Consumer Law, as set out in Schedule 2 of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth). We make no representation that your consumer rights are limited to the entitlements outlined below.

We do not offer a refund if you simply change your mind. We can offer you an exchange of product for something else, a different size or 12 months of credit. Refunds will only be processed for the following reasons:

  1. The item is faulty
  2. The item is damaged (please explain how)
  3. You were sent incorrect items (refund can be offered, or correct items sent)

Our 14 Day Returns Policy does not apply to special order products, such as custom ordered skates in an unusual size.

Sale items are not eligible under our 14 Day Returns Policy.

Cost of return:

  • You are responsible for covering any freight or delivery cost of the return.
  • You can also bring the product back to the store in person.

Exchanges and Refunds Policy

As per our Returns Policy we will not refund if you have changed of mind however we can exchange your item for something else, or you can choose a 12 month store credit.

If the size isn’t right for a product you’ve ordered, and you’d like to exchange it for another size, we can do this. We recommend phoning our store to check if we have other sizes in stock, if not we can order a size in form you, or offer an alternative.

If you live in Perth, we recommend attending our store for skate fittings, to ensure the size works for you.  It is very difficult to purchase skates online unless you are an experienced skater and know your size and fit.

All After Pay orders made online must be returned and refunded in full, no exchanges can be provided.

If you are returning your purchased item and wish to exchange it for a different item with a different value, we will refund your original order, and take payment for the new purchase.

Your refund will then be processed back to the credit card or PayPal account used at the time of purchase within 7 business days of the exchange being registered in store.

Alternatively, if you live in Perth, we can facilitate returns in store; please call ahead.

Tips for trying on your skates

  • Stick to a carpeted area or rug when trying them on. We recommend using blade guards when trying on your skates. – if the blade is damaged we will not accept the return under our 14 Days Return Policy.
  • Skates that appear to have been worn – padding indented, blades appear used, or smelling of feet – will not be exchanged.

14 Day Returns Policy – Process

Once returns are received in our warehouse, our Returns Team will determine whether the product is eligible for a refund, credit or exchange. When it is approved, it will be forwarded to the Accounts Team for processing. Our team will send you an email to let you know that the refund, credit or exchange has been processed. Once your refund has been processed, please allow 1-7 business days (this may vary depending on your financial institution) for the funds to appear in your account.

The refund will be credited back to the same credit card or PayPal account that you paid from. For other forms of payment, please see below:

Please Note:

  • If any items are not eligible for a refund we will contact you.
  • During peak trading times (including but not limited to Christmas and sale periods) refunds may take slightly longer to process.

We reserve the right to decline an item for a refund under our 14 Day Returns Policy if:

  • the return was made after 14 days from the purchase date;
  • the products are marked, damaged or show signs of wear;
  • the products are not returned in their original and undamaged box or packaging;
  • in the case of skates that have been heat moulded, blades dinged or the skates show evidence of wear;
  • if your order included a delivery charge, only the cost of the items returned will be refunded (unless the goods are not of acceptable quality pursuant to the our obligations under the Australian Consumer Law).

Fair wear and tear

Skates

Please be aware all skates through normal use will break down around the ankle area eventually. This is considered fair wear and tear, and may not be covered by our 14 Day Refunds Policy or the consumer guarantees under Australian Consumer Law.

Eventually the ankle area will lose the support needed to skate well indicating it is time to purchase new skates. If you have been fitted correctly, and purchased skates appropriate for your sport, you can reasonably expect your skates to last 9 months or longer. For example, an athlete skating 6 times a week cannot expect to get more than 9 – 12months out of a pair of skates. A recreational skater, skating public sessions once a week may get 5 or more years out of a pair of skates. Many factors affect how long your skates will last including your body weight, foot mechanics and style of skating. These time frames are estimates only, and may differ depending on many factors. We will assess fair wear and tear on a case-by-case basis.

It is important where possible to be fitted in-store to ensure you are purchasing skates that are the correct size for you, stiff enough to support your body weight, but not too stiff (especially in the case of children).

Skates should not be purchased too big (allow just enough growing room for children,), otherwise, they may prematurely break down, which may not indicate any inherent fault in the product.

The skates purchased should be the appropriate choice for the intended discipline (hockey, figure, synchro, speed, recreational) and the number of times per week you intend to skate.

Hockey Sticks

Please be aware hockey sticks wear down over normal use. Some break faster than others. It is important to choose a stick that is the appropriate stiffness (flex) for your size to ensure longevity. Too soft it will likely snap faster, but too stiff and the stick will not be responsive.

If a composite hockey stick is broken due to a manufacturing defect, within 14 days of purchase, it may be eligible for replacement. Replacements must be approved by the Australian distributor, Addlon Trading. mySKATE as the retailer will liaise with Addlon on your behalf.
